PENGARUH MENGUNYAH PERMEN KARET XYLITOL TERHADAP PENURUNAN RASA HAUS PADA PASIEN GAGAL GINJAL KRONIK YANG MELAKUKAN CUCI DARAH DI RUANG HEMODIALISA RUMAH SAKIT SENTRA MEDIKA CIBINONG
Chronic kidney failure is a kidney function disorder characterized by increased levels of toxic (urea creatinine) in the blood as a result of the inability of the kidneys to filter the body's metabolic products which are irreversible. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of chewing xylitol gum with the reduction of thirst in chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis, This research is a type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design using a one group pretest posttest design without control group to 31 samples from 212 patients populations undergoing hemodialysis in sentra medika cibinong hospital in 2023 using the technique purposive sampling. Based on the normality test kolmogrov smirnov show the data is normally distributed (p 0.05), and the parametric paired t-test gets a p value of 0.000 (0.05) meaning there is the influence of chewing xylitol gum with the reduction of thirst in chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. The conclusion is thirst level before chewing xylitolgum is moderate thirst, thirst level after chewing xylitol gum is mild thirst, and there is a influence chewing xylitol gum with the reduction of thirst in chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. Suggestions for research this is expected Suggestions in this study are that Sentra Medika Cibinong Hospital can hold lay seminars on the benefits of xylitolgum to overcome thirst in patients undergoing hemodialysis with the hope of increasing discipline in limiting fluid intake and morbidity and mortality can be avoided due to excess fluid volume.
