ABSTRACT Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to inadequate insulin secretion, abnormal blood sugar levels above 200 mg/dL. The therapy given is a combination of pharmacology and non-pharmacology, namely progressive muscle relaxation therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine Progressive Muscle Relaxation Therapy on Blood Sugar Levels in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients at Harapan Bunda Hospital, Jakarta. This type of research is a quasy experiment with a one-group pre-test – post-test design, intervention group for blood sugar levels. Population 30 people, sample 30. The average value of blood sugar levels in the pre test is 1.37 with a standard deviation of .490. In the posttest the mean value is 1.00 with a standard deviation of .000. The statistical test results obtained a value of .000, so it can be concluded that there is an effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at Harapan Bunda Hospital, Jakarta. Conclusions and Suggestions Progressive muscle relaxation techniques are proven to have an effect on blood sugar levels, and it is recommended for hospital institutions besides providing pharmacological therapy, they can combine non-pharmacological progressive muscle relaxation therapies.
